WHY HAZARDS ARE DANGEROUS
Hazards found in any environment or working place are dangerous because they can cause harm to the human body in severals ways. Some of which includes respiratory diseases from inhaling poisonous and volatile chemicals, burns from gas explosion, blindness and scalds from chemical explosion and others.

PREVENTION OF HAZARDS
1. By being able to identify and interpret warning and safety signs.
2. By adhering strictly to safety precautions against hazards.
3. By keeping working environment especially laboratory clean.
4. By applying modern teaching skills in science.
5. Proper handling of scientific apparatus and equipment.
6. By installing safety devices like fire alarm and smoke detectors at workplaces.
7. By using alternate and less toxic materials for research.

SAFETY SIGNS
Although safety devicesare found at workplaces to reduce accidents and to protect human lives, there are safety signs printed and fixed at areas like doors, cupboard, chemical bottles, on tracks and others that humans are likely to see.

Safety signs give information on safety to those in the vicinity especially when all other methods used to control hazards have failed.

SAFETY is the condition of being protected against hazards.
