1. A blood pressure that is consistently 140/90 mmHg or higher is considered high blood pressure.2. High blood pressure is also called the silent killer because it can creep up on you for several years without you Knowing it.
CAUSES OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
1. It is hereditary i.e. can be passed on from parents yo offspring.2. Obesity or overweight
3. Excessive intake of salt
4. Excessive intake of alcohol
5. Smoking
6. Increased stress (lack of adequate rest)
7. Lack of regular physical exercise
8. Eating foot that contains high amount of fat (cholesterol) e.g. meat, pork, egg yolk, cheese.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
1. Severe and persistent headache2. Heart failure
3. Heart attack
4. Dizziness
5. Shortening of breath especially during physical exercise
6. Vision becomes affected
7. Kidney failure
8. Stroke
PREVENTION OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
1. Regular exercise 2. Low intake of salt3. Reducing body weight by eating food rich in vegetables (with less carbohydrates)
4. Reducing the intake of fatty food
5. Avoiding smoking
6. Controlling physical and emotional stress
7. Reducing consumption of alcohol drinks
