There are two types of plants. These are those that produce and those that do not produce flowers. Those that produce flowers are called flowering plants whilst those that do not produce flowers are called non- flowering plants. Examples of flowering plants are hibiscus, mango, beans, crotalaria, okro, orange, pawpaw, guava and the grasses( rice, wheat and maize).
Examples of non-flowering plants are algae, ferns and mosses.
Each of these plants undergoes certain stages in it's life time to be able to multiply and continue it's generation. The stages they go through are called life cycle. Flowering plants and non-flowering plants go through different stages of life cycle. In this section we shall consider the life cycle of a flowering plants only. To be able to understand the topic well, Let's first look at the entire structure of a flowering plants and the role each part plays.
