SALT PRODUCTION BS 6


SALT is a common compound, chemically consisting of sodium chloride ( NaCl) which is mostly used as a preservative.

It is obtained from sea water. It is the reason why sea water tastes salty.

SCIENTIFIC PREPARATION OF SALT 
The sea water is collected and poured into an evaporating dish. The dish is put on fire and heated until all the water evaporates leaving the salt crystals in the dish. The salt is the collected and used.

USES OF SALT
1. It is used for preservative of food.
2. It adds taste to the food.
