VERBS(Main verbs and helping verbs) BS 4

A verb is a doing word or an action word. Every verb that portrays an action is a main verb

Examples are:
Eat, sit ,walk ,go, jump, wash, clap, fetch, sleep, watch,......... etc

Those that do not portray any action but helps the main verb to be meaningful in the sentence are called auxiliary or helping verbs 
Examples are:
is, am, was, were, are......etc


Trial test
Identify the main verbs and auxiliary verbs in the following sentences:

1. Ama is going to school.

Main verb: going
Auxiliary verb: is


2. I am eating rice.

Main verb: eating 
Auxiliary verb: am

3. Akua is dancing the "Adowa" dance.

Main verb: dancing
Auxiliary verb : is
