COMMON SKIN DISEASES OF HUMANS
INTRODUCTION
The skin is a protective covering of the body . When the skin is not well cleaned or protected it may be affected with diseases. The human skin may be infected with various kinds of diseases. Like the other diseases, skin diseases are caused by virus,fungi, protozoa and deficiency of certain nutrients.In this lesson we shall learn more skin diseases .
SOME COMMON SKIN DISEASES ARE:
1. MEASLES : measles is another skin disease caused by virus. It mainly affects children. Measles is spread from person to person by physical contact. It can also be spread through coughing and sneezing.
SYMPTOMS OF MEASLES
The person with measles will show coughing , fever ,rash, muscle pain and blood shot eye.2. ECZEMA : Eczema is a common skin disease that affect people of all age group. It is caused by a reaction of the skin .
SYMPTOMS OF ECZEMA
The patient with eczema will show reddening , swelling,bumps, thickening and scaling of the skin. Eczema causes itching and burning of the skin.3. RINGWORM: Ringworm is a common skin infection among children. It may also affect older people. It is caused by a fungus living on dead skin ,hair and nail tissue. Ringworm starts with a red scaly patch or bump . It then develops into an itchy red ring with raised ,blistery . Ringworm is spread through skin to skin contact between people or animals. It may also be spread by sharing personal items or articles such towel,Sponge or sportswear.
4 . CHICKEN POX : Chicken pox is an infectious or contagious disease caused by virus .
SYMPTOMS OF CHICKEN POX
The patient with chicken pox will show itchy rash and red spot or blisters all over the skin. Most children with chicken pox will show headache, fever and stomach ache.
