Substances that are taken up and removed by the blood during circulation

FUNCTIONS OF THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
1. It transports oxygen to organs and tissues throughout the body.
2. It transports nutrients such as glucose to organs and tissues throughout the body.
3. It carries away waste products of metabolism from the tissues.
4. It regulates body temperature.
5. When foreign elements invade the body, it transports white blood cells and antibodies to regions of attack.

DISEASES OF THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Disease or disorders of the circulatory system include any injury or disease that damages the heart, the body or the blood vessel. The most common circulatory diseases are;
1. High blood pressure ( hypertension)
2. Low blood pressure ( hypotension)
3. Leukaemia ( cancer of the blood)
4. Varicose veins
5. Heamorrhoids( piles)
